The Shivapuri day hike revolves around the Shivapuri National Park and is often hailed by many to be a must-do in the Kathmandu valley. Spreading on an area of 159 km2, the park provides travelers an extreme sense of isolation that is virtually impossible near the city premises. Nagarjun Jamacho Hike is one of the nearest hikes to the capital, Kathmandu. The Nagarjun Jamacho Hike initiates at Phulbari Gate, the entrance to the national park. The forest is thus named after the saint and, till date, the forest and the monastery are held in great respect by the people in the valley. The Nagarjun hill is sacred for both Hindu and Buddhists.
