For those that are in search of tranquility and solitude; the Gosainkunda lake trek will definitely exceed your expectations. Tantalizing views of the snow-laden mountains along with religious hymns and a chilling sense of liveliness is what builds the Gosainkunda lake trek and furthermore, prepares for a spiritual awakening too. Traversing through the Langtang National Park, the Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a brilliant depiction of the beauty of the region.
The trek commences in Kathmandu and after exploring the major UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley; then we prepare the necessary equipment and documents. Afterward, an 8-hour drive takes us to Dhunche with picturesque views of the Trishuli River, green hills, and far away mountains along the way. From Dhunche, we begin the long walk to Thulo Syabru. The route amazes us with a delightful display of wilderness and slight glimpses of Tamang settlements. The trail gets a bit steep and uphill on the trail to Lauri Binayak. The views of the Annapurna and Langtang Himalayan range further invigorate us.
Walking along mountain-side cliffs and desolate land ultimately leads us to the Gosainkunda Lake. The lake sits on the base of mountains and its water feed the Trishuli River. This place is a pilgrimage hub and you can see people busy in prayers here. The lake has a religious history that dates back to Lord Shiva. After exploring the lake, we begin our way back. We head towards Chandanbari and along the way, we can see local people and fellow trekkers. The descending trail demands full attention and we take a breather at Shin Gompa. From Chandanbari, we again back at Dhunche. Then we will take a vehicle, to drive back to Kathmandu.
