The 19-day Mera Peak Climbing trip begins upon your arrival at Kathmandu. You will do a tour of the city for a day and visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath. The next day, you will embark on a short flight to Lukla. The trek begins at Lukla and gradually advances through the eastern section of Khumbu valley towards Barun Region. You will pass through numerous Sherpa villages namely Chutang, Kothe, and Thangnak en route to Khare.
You will travel through a pristine Makalu Barun National Park, the eastern extension of Sagarmatha National Park. It is also a home to Red Panda and numerous other exotic and rare wildlife. From Khare, you will make your way towards Mera Peak Base Camp. It’s a continuous ascent through the snow moraines, crevasses, and ice-path to the top. You will use ice-axe, crampon, and fixed ropes to summit the peak. Once at the summit, you will be welcomed with a majestic panorama of the Barun valley and the mesmerizing sights of Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), Lhotse (8,414m), Makalu (8,463m), and Kanchenjunga (8,586m) among other peaks. From here, you will descend through Khare, Kothe, Zatrwa La Pass (4610m), and Chutang to Lukla. The trip concedes upon your return to Kathmandu. Mera Peak remains mostly accessible during spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn (Sep-Nov) seasons.
