Kathmandu Day Tour

Although the burden of being the business hub of the country, the city is also a magnificent tour destination to experience the cultural treasures within the city. With 7 out of 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and over 130 nationally recognized monuments, the bustling city has recognized itself as a hub of ancient heritage, culture, and hospitality. Kathmandu Day Tour is excellent derivation off of the history, art, and culture reflected on the heritages around the valley. The tour begins early in the morning as you drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square which will be your first stop. At Durbar square you will see varieties of Temple, shrine, monuments, royal palace and museums.

The major highlights here are Taleju temple, Kumari house, Kasthamandap, and the ancient Hanuman Dhoka. The next stop will be Pashupatinath, a sacred destination for Hindus all around the world. This Temple is located on the bank of Bagmati river, you will see varieties of the temple, shrine, Ghats and Shadus (the devotees of Lord Shiva) In the afternoon, you will be visiting the two of the most sacred Buddhist shrines in Nepal i.e. Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. First, you visit Boudhanath whose surrounding is awe-inspiring and vibrant despite the huge number of businesses surrounding the stupa.

The path around the stupa consists of turning prayer wheels in the clockwise direction and the stupa is said to contain relics of Kashyap Buddha. Then we will visit Swayambhunath, it sits on top of the hill which will provide the best scenic view of Kathmandu. Several prayer flags, beautiful Gumpa with Buddha eyes, different shrines, and monkeys swinging around you.

  • AM: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square 2 Hrs

    After breakfast, you meet our tour guide at the hotel premises. From the hotel, our company van will take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is also known as Basantapur Durbar Square. It is located in the heart of the city and filled with old temples, palaces, and ancient monuments. The durbar square area consists of Mahadev Temple, Shiva Parvati Temple, Bhagwati Temple, Kasthamandap and Kumari House built in the 17th century. The Kasthamandap had been built of a single tree and the city’s name Kathmandu is derived from it. During your visit to the Kumari House, you might even see the goddess at her balcony window.

  • AM: Visit Pashupatinath | 2 Hrs

    After visiting, Kathmandu Durbar Square you drive to the holy Pashupatinath temple. It is one of the most important religious sites for Hindu devotees. Built-in the pagoda style, the temple is gold plated and consists of hundreds of Shiva lingam within the temple compound. The platforms along the Bagmati river are used for ritual baths and cremating the bodies of those who have died. Guheshwori temple, which was built in the 17th, century, is located near Pashupatinath.

  • PM: Visit Boudhanath after Lunch | 1 Hr

    In the afternoon, you proceed towards Boudhanath. It is the largest stupa in Nepal and a holy shrine to Buddhists around the world. Built around the 14th century, Boudhanath consists of a giant dome with a Buddhist pyramid tower on top, popularly known as dome architecture. The holy shrine is surrounded by streets and narrow alleyways filled with Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, street vendors, restaurants, and colorful houses.

  • PM: Visit Swayambhunath | 2 Hrs and evening walk to Hotel

    Later in the evening, the company van will drive you to Swayambhunath which is widely known as the Monkey Temple. The stupa lies on top of a hill west of Kathmandu and provides great views of the entire city. In the stupa premise, you can visit Harati Devi temple, The Dewa Dharma Monastery, and other temples around Swayambhunath temple. On the way to the top, you can see numerous shops with beautiful paintings and handicrafts. After exploring Swayambhunath, you enjoy a peaceful evening walk to the hotel observing the lifestyle of the Kathmandu inhabitants.
